The California DISCLOSE Act is needed more than ever — billionaires have already pledged to spend nearly $1 billion on next year’s election.
AB 700, authored by Assembly members Jimmy Gomez (D-Northeast Los Angeles) and Marc Levine (D-San Rafael), would turn the tide on unlimited secret money in politics by exposing the true names of billionaires and other special interests who try to buy elections with deceptive ads.
Join California in Sacramento on the 29th to pack the hearing room and lobby! Lets pack the Assembly Elections Committee hearing room to show the legislature how many regular people like you are demanding an end to anonymous ads that deceive voters about who’s really paying for them.
The hearing will be in the Capitol building in Sacramento starting at 9:00am on Wednesday April 29. Hopefully everyone who comes will have a chance to line up and say their name, where they’re from, and that they support the bill. The longer the line of people from all around the state, the more impact we’ll have!
There will be carpools from around the state. California Clean Money Campaign can reimburse your gas costs. If you’re coming up from Southern California the night before, there will be places to stay with volunteers in and around Sacramento.
After the hearing, we hope you can stay for our lobby day when we go around to lobby key Assemblymembers and their staff.
