Los Angeles Alliance to Support Standing Rock Calls Upon Federal Government to Stop Dakota Access Pipeline
Indigenous Peoples and allies stand in ceremony and solidarity with Standing Rock. Hundreds will rally at downtown Federal Building to demand:
• A stop to human rights abuses by militarized law enforcement
• A reversal of Army Corps of Engineers trespass notice on Native American treaty land
• A halt to construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline
Los Angeles, California — The Los Angeles Alliance to Support Standing Rock call for a month of solidarity with the Water Protectors at Standing Rock. Indigenous Peoples and allies are organizing events throughout Southern California during the month of December.
On Tuesday, December 6, 2016, in the ancestral homelands of the Tongva people, from 10:00am to 12:00pm an Indigenous Peoples-led coalition of Native American rights leaders, bank reform activists, and environmentalists will hold ceremony, march, and rally to demand a stop to the Dakota Access Pipeline and the human rights abuses being perpetrated by Morton County Sheriffs and allied militarized police. The action will begin with a Thanksgiving Water Ceremony at the Los Angeles River, followed by a march to the Downtown Federal Building where indigenous leaders will publicly rebuke the Army Corps of Engineers and deliver an Indigenous Peoples Notice of Trespass to demand a stop to the Dakota Access Pipeline.
