Santa Paula Canyon
Saturday, May 13
9 am – 4 pm

Join CFROG for a Herb Walk with Lanny Kaufer. Lanny’s extensive knowledge of native plants and their uses provides an incredible opportunity to learn about the plants around us all the time. AND this hike will pass the Carbon California (formerly California Resources Corp/Vintage/Occidental) operated oil pads behind Thomas Aquinas College – which are the subject of a lawsuit that CFROG and partners have filed against Ventura County for approving 7 new wells along Santa Paula Creek without proper environmental review of potential impacts, including impacts to endangered species like the California Condor and Steelhead trout.

Santa Paula Canyon is home to both the Punchbowl and an oil drilling operation.
CFROG representatives will be at the hike to discuss the issues at the well pads, and we hope to have scientists and biologists to speak about the potential impacts (subject to availability) to the habitat, wildlife, human healthy, creek etc.
The hike will start at the trail head, and for those who don’t have all day you can turn back after the visit to the oil pads – others who want to hike the whole way to the Punchbowls will continue on.

Visit Lanny’s website to purchase tickets (a portion of ticket sales will be donated to CFROG).
