“We want to alert you to a brand new Environmental Defense Center investigation, co-sponsored by CFROG, that reveals that in the last two years nearly 95% of oil well drilling in Ventura County, totaling more than 400 wells, was conducted without environmental review or application of the new notice and reporting requirements for hydraulic fracturing (“fracking”) and acid well stimulation (“acidizing”).

In the report we present options the Board of Supervisors must take that are both legal and appropriate. The author, Brian Segee, senior attorney with EDC, says, “We respectfully urge County Supervisors to reexamine the scope of vested rights held by these companies, and to ensure that the health of local residents and the environment is protected from increased oil drilling in general, and fracking and acidizing in particular.”
