Karen Gargamelli and others from Organizing4Occupation (O4O) will talk about how they’ve been creatively stopping foreclosure auctions. Members of O4O and Occupy Wall Street began disrupting foreclosure auctions in October. O4O is a NYC based group of individuals that uses direct action to create affordable housing, namely by (1) moving people into vacant spaces and (2) using nonviolent tactics to prevent foreclosures and evictions.

The purpose of the auction blockades is to shut down foreclosure auctions — to make it impossible for the banks to sell our homes thereby forcing banks to modify loans. The actions have been powerful because of the creativity, planning, and discipline involved. During the actions, participants sing a song together (“Listen Auctioneer”) — take a look: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26315908/#46260580

Join us on Wednesday to learn how to carry out this kind of tactic as part of your local occupy homes work. Again, to join the call, you must register to get your own PIN. Register here: http://myaccount.maestroconference.com/conference/register/MT3IJ5UT7C3NWDF0
